BTS Welcomes Samut Prakan

Thailand is made up of 77 provinces with Bangkok being one. The capital is bordered by other provinces including Nonthanburi to the north and Samut Prakan to the south. Since Bangkok is such a large sprawling city that is continuing to grow, these provinces merge into one and it can be hard to decipher between them.

Samut Prakan has received a lot of attention of late thanks to the extension of the mass transit network above ground heading in this direction. The Sukhumvit Line of the BTS Skytrain network, also known as the Green Line, has branched out to Samut Prakan opening up the area. The line has been slowly edging this way, with signs on the BTS having to be regularly updated to illustrate where the last station is. Changing from Bearing, to Samrong and now to Kheha - the new end of the line.

As demand continues at all time high to live in and around the Sukhumvit area, this extension that glides above the Sukhumvit Road will attract more people to live in close vicinity to it. This will be propelled further since the central Sukhumvit areas such as Asoke and Thong Lo are already saturated pushing up prices making this a more expensive place to live.

Due to Sukhumvit’s desirability many developers firmly set their sights on any plot to build a residence anywhere in this region. However, much of these locations are far from the BTS Skytrain stations meaning that it can take significant time to reach the station to start commuting. It therefore makes sense to take advantage of the cheaper price points of condominiums located further down the line that bask in being on the doorstep of the station such as IDEO MOBI Sukhumvit 66 {INSERT HYPERLINK} just 50 meters from Udom Suk Station. Here residents can relish in quick travel into central Bangkok as Thong Lo is just six stops away or now travel to Samut Prakan, with minimal travel time.

Additionally this extension has allowed Bangkokians to explore their neighbouring provinces. The famous Erawan Museum, known for its striking design of a three-headed elephant, even has its own station on the Green Line drawing more people this way due to the ease of transport.

Bangkok’s mass transit network continues its expansion in all directions and the opening of the the Green Line extension is just one of many new branches. Fast forward years to come and the city’s public transportation will be completely unrecognisable. This will further the reliance on this BTS and MRT as long distances can be travelled with ease without any potential hold ups that can occur when travelling by road. Investors have taken heed of this, and is why Bangkok has become such a popular place to buy property. But being as close to the network as possible remains of utmost concern to take advantage of this efficient service.
