Setting sights firmly on Silom.
The first two lines of the BTS Skytrain network were the Silom and Sukhumvit lines. These two neighborhoods were chosen for Bangkok’s efficient mass transit network since they were the most popular parts of the city. The Skytrain effortlessly glides above the roads and snakes in between Silom’s skyscrapers in a Bladerunner type fashion. Although businesses now sprawl all over Bangkok, traditionally they were parked only in Silom with hordes of workers coming in to the area for the day. This former financial hub is home to local and international corporations that relish in its geographic location.
Today the businesses are still intact but now alongside a host of residences too. As Bangkok’s traffic continued to get worse, the appeal of living right next to the office was heightened. Silom was no longer the place to come just to work and services followed suit to cater to its growing population. Development has been rife with any parcel of land being snapped up for improvement.
Over recent years several new and exciting developments have landed on Silom’s soil, the most notable one of all being the Mahanakhon Tower. Proudly taking position next to Chong Nonsi BTS station this striking tower is Bangkok’s second tallest residential building. This mixed-use scheme houses private residences, commercial space and the viewing platform at the top offers views of the capital like no other. Its arrival marked a new era for the locale and a ripple effect of development commenced around it.

Directly behind the Mahanakhon Tower is Sathorn 10 and 12. These two leafy sois have become a destination welcoming new restaurants, coffee shops and bars to meet the needs of the growing number of people choosing Silom as their home. Despite their prime location they are void of traffic which has added to their charm and has spurred the area in the popularity stakes.
Naturally developers have cottoned on to this trend and more condominiums have marked their territory in Silom. Ananda’s latest addition to their extensive condominium portfolio is ASHTON SILOM. Being the only condominium on Silom’s main thoroughfare is the cherry on the top of these residences that ooze the style that ASHTON prides itself on. As well as being completely kitted out to the highest of standards, residents can also enjoy the luxury of a walk to work should the be based in the Silom locale. Alternatively, Chong Nonsi BTS is just a stone’s throw away for further afield travel.

The beauty of Silom is the eclectic mix of what is on offer and is a reason why many people including renters choose to call it their home. Some of the city’s top restaurants are here, but at the other end of the scale there is a host of good Thai street food and other Asian delights such as Indian fare. From upmarket shopping malls to local markets, all types of hotels, schools and hospitals, everything really is within arm’s reach.
